The European Union has banned products containing dimethyl fumarate from being put on the market or sold on the market. Recently, a large number of products with DMF exceeding the standard have been recalled, which has a great impact on the domestic manufacturers and sellers.
Introduction of DMF dimethyl fumarate detection
Recently, the European Commission passed the draft of "requiring member states to ensure that products containing dimethyl fumarate will not be put on the market or sold" (2009 / 251 / EC), which stipulates that products containing dimethyl fumarate will not be put on the market or sold after May 1, 2009.
New directive requirements
It is stipulated that after May 1, 2009, products containing dimethyl fumarate are prohibited to be put on the market or sold on the market, and products containing dimethyl fumarate that have been put on the market or sold on the market should be withdrawn;
The content of dimethyl fumarate in the product or product parts shall not exceed 0.1 mg / kg (0.1ppm);
The desiccant and mildew inhibitor bags containing dimethyl fumarate shall not be used in the product and package.
Background of the new directive
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is a highly effective and low toxic fungicide developed in the world in the 1980s. It is widely used in China's furniture industry and shoe-making industry. When it exceeds the normal dosage, it may cause skin allergy, rash or burn. Last year, consumer allergy incidents occurred in France, Poland, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom. After the announcement of 2009 / 251 / EC, the ban on Dimethyl Fumarate will be extended from France, Spain and Belgium to the whole EU, which will become another technical barrier restricting China's leather goods processing and export enterprises such as shoes, bags and sofas.
On dimethyl fumarate (DMF)
Dimethyl fumarate is mostly wrapped in small bags fixed inside furniture, or added in shoe boxes. So as to keep the product dry and moisture-proof, prevent product mildew. However, consumers who come into contact with the product are also hurt. Dimethyl fumarate penetrates the skin of consumers through clothing, causing skin contact dermatitis and pain, including itching, irritation, redness and burns; in some cases, acute respiratory disease has also been reported. Dermatitis is particularly difficult to treat. Therefore, the existence of dimethyl fumarate is a serious danger.
